6 Feet Under
Family Photos

It took my dad and I a while to figure out who those people were, but we did it last weekend. the woman on the left is my great grandmother, who I take after for looks. The other woman is my great great grandmother, the man is my great grandfather, the man behind the tree is my great great grandfather, the baby very well may be my grandmother (or one of my great aunts), the girl is my great aunt and the boy is my great uncle who died probably shortly after this picture was taken at the age of 6 by drowning.
For some reason, my great great grandfather behind the tree kind of creeps me out. I don't know why. Maybe because his skin looks like it blends in with the tree and it almost looks like he shouldn't be there. Hell, for all I know, no one was there and it's some sort of ghost. O__O
This lovely lady is my grandmother, taken around the 30's or 40's. She was very pretty and there was talk that she did modeling for a department store in New Jersey. There's no proof of this, but if someone has photos of a woman who looks like her doing some modeling, please leave a comment telling me so. You don't know how much it would mean to my dad and me if we could see the fabled modeling photos.

Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl

At least I think she's dead. This is what I believe to be my first postmortem photo. I've read up on them and I remember reading about how if you see a person standing in a photo, look behind them and see if you can see the legs of a stand. These stands were like doll stands for porcelain dolls that clamp to the back and have wires run through the sleeves.
If you look behind the little girl's feet you'll see legs to what I believe is one of those life size doll stands.

WTFs Throughout History

I have yet to figure out what this girl is wearing. I'm guessing it's some sort of holiday garb or costume for a play.
I also have yet to figure out what's written here. I'm bad at reading cursive as it is, but faded cursive is the worse. I think it says "Mattie, March 17, 1894" And the rest is a mystery to me. How bad is it that a 16 year old has trouble reading cursive?
