Hi, I'm Kelly Ann and I've started collecting vintage photos.
While most 16-year-old girls are busy with friends, facebook, myspace, boys and dumb TV, I'm also busy with drawing, writing, photography and collecting vintage photos. And death. I'm kind of obsessed with death.
For the time being, I only own 5 vintage photos, seeing as how they seem to go for so much on eBay, most antique shops also sell them for a lot and my main supplier is running low on photos. Two photos are from my father's box of family photos. The first is my grandmother when she was younger, back in the 30's or 40's. She was so pretty. The other one is a family sitting outside of a house in the 1900's... I think... We're not actually sure if they're relatives or old friends of my great grandparents.
I'll be posting those and the three others I bought later, once I get my scanner hooked up again. A real treat for lovers of postmortem photography: The first photo I picked up from my supplier is a postmortem photo... Or at least I think it is...
Anyway, about the name of the site. When my dad and I go to antique shops, he always says "Who in their right mind would just get rid of old family photos like this? Even if you don't know who they are, at least keep them!" This made me think about how most of the time the identity of the person is lost, seeing as how there's probably no family members alive who know who the person is. These people might as well be lost souls. Faces without names. Just lost. And I want people to remember them, even if no one remembers their faces.
Of course, it's not just photos of humans I'm going to be posting. Any interesting vintage photo I can get my hands on is fair game. :)
